Personality profiling aka behavioural profiling/assessments
There are so many personality profiling tools out there and I’m sure most of you have taken the time in the past to complete one. But do you know how valuable they can be within your company and team.

Which one to pick?
I’m accredited in OPQ, Hays Leadership Styles, Predictive Index, Zircon BeTalent and DISC profiling and while they are all great, I do have my favourites. The key for me is making it feel like magic for a person. If you spend 15 minutes completing some questions but from that get a report and a feedback session that leaves you feeling understood and engaged, it kind of is magic.
Which one do you use the most?
DISC is my go-to tool at the moment. It is an assessment that measures four separate factors: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Compliance. Put simply, the DISC assessment measures how a person does what they do. The DISC profile creates a language around observable behaviour, which in turn improves communication, engagement, and self-development.
How do they work?
Most tools look at a persons natural and adapted behaviour and from this we can see how much effort someone has to put in to fitting the mould of what they believe they need to. Too much adaption leads to stress and burnout, if not managed correctly. But techniques to manage it can be easy. For example, a day of feeding back to people on their behavioural profiling exhausts me because naturally I don’t like talking to people all day. But a quiet evening with limited social interactions (sorry to my husband) allows me to bounce back.
